Zestaw Lego 149 Rafineria (Fuel Refinery)został wydany w roku 1976, składa się z 322 elementów i 3 (proto)minifigurek. Rafineria jest sygnowana marką "Shell" z którą Lego przez wiele lat współpracowao. Jest kompatybilna z torami i pociągami z serii Train 4.5 V. Jest to obecnie dosyć rzadko spotykany zestaw, na stronie Brickset jedynie 296 osób oznaczyło, że posiada ten set (stan na 20.07.23, nie jest to oczywiście faktyczna liczba osób posiadających ten zestaw, ale obrazuje ogólny trend).
Pod względem konstrukcyjnym zestaw jest ciekawie wykonany i dosyć duży. Na płycie bazowej 24x32 study stoi rafineria, która składa się z połączonych ze sobą dwóch części. W jednej na wysokich podporach znajduje się zbiornik na paliwo, pod który prowadzą tory zakończone kozłem. Ze zbiornika wychodzą "rury" wykonane z okrągłych bricków 1x1 które doprowadzają paliwo do mogących tam podjechać wagonów-cystern. Jako, że w latach 70. zasób klocków był mocno ograniczony, to projektanci musieli improwizować. Tutaj nie jest inaczej - za końcówki rur tłoczących paliwo do cystern służą klocki które nominalnie są kranami kuchennymi (element 69c01 White Tap 1 x 2 Base with Light Gray Spout).
Druga część to prawdopodobnie sterownia całej Rafinerii. Na nieco niższych, niż pod zbiornikiem, podporach stoi nie wielki, piętrowy budyneczek z anteną na dachu i tarasem na którym umieszczone jest jakieś urządzenie sterujące. Sam budynek, z racji rozmiaru, jest pusty w środku i raczej mało użytkowy, choć można otworzyć drzwi i wepchnąć tam którąś z trzech minifigurek. Pod budynkiem jest wjazd dla samochodów ułożony z tile'i 2x2 i dystrybutor paliwa. Może z niego korzystać dołączona do zestawu cysterna, również w barwach koncernu "Shell".
Zestaw Lego 149 Fuel Refinery pomimo pozornej prostoty jest ciekawie wykonany, ma kilka "interaktywnych" elementów, choć na pewno wymaga więcej wyobraźni niż współczesne zestawy.

The LEGO set 149 Fuel Refinery was released in 1976. It consists of 322 pieces and includes 3 (proto) minifigures. The refinery is branded with the "Shell" logo, as LEGO collaborated with Shell for many years. It is compatible with the tracks and trains from the Train 4.5 V series. Currently, it is a fairly rare set, with only 296 people marked as owning this set on the Brickset website (as of July 20, 2023; this number may not reflect the actual total number of owners but illustrates the general trend).
In terms of construction, the set is well-designed and quite large. The fuel refinery stands on a 24x32 stud baseplate and consists of two interconnected parts. In one part, there is a fuel tank supported on high pillars, and tracks lead to it, ending with a buffer. From the tank, "pipes" made of round 1x1 bricks carry the fuel to the tankers that can dock there. Given the limited availability of bricks in the 1970s, the designers had to improvise. For instance, the bricks used as the ends of the fuel-dispensing pipes are actually kitchen faucet elements (element 69c01 White Tap 1 x 2 Base with Light Gray Spout).
The second part is likely the control center for the entire refinery. It is a small, two-story building on slightly lower supports than those holding the tank. It has an antenna on the roof and a terrace with some control equipment. Due to its size, the building is empty inside and not very functional, although you can open the doors and place one of the three minifigures inside. Beneath the building, there is a car entrance made of 2x2 tiles and a fuel dispenser. The set includes a tanker, also branded with the "Shell" logo, which can use the fuel dispenser.
The LEGO 149 Fuel Refinery set, despite its apparent simplicity, is well-designed and has several "interactive" elements, although it certainly requires more imagination than modern sets.
