Dziś zestaw pochodzący z "mrocznych" czasów Lego, gdy seria Town była przesadnie uproszczona. Przez to były mało ciekawe pod względem konstrukcyjnym, a czasami wręcz brzydkie. Przedstawiany Bank z 1997 r., pomimo, że mamy tu piętrowy budynek i dosyć spory samochód, składa się ledwie z 91 części i zawiera dwie minifigurki. Poza zieloną płytką bazową 8x16 dominują tu szaro-czarne barwy.
Budynek jest prostą konstrukcją, nie ma tu wiele budowania, boczne ściany to po prostu duże bricki 1x6x5, na górze wykończone klockami typu slope. Ściana frontowa jest w pełni przeszkolona, składa się z... 4 elementów (drzwi i okno na parterze i dwa okna na piętrze). Szyby okienne z nadrukiem przedstawiającym pieniądze są unikalne dla tego zestawu. Obok budynku stoi bankomat i rosną kwiatki. Wnętrze jest raczej ascetyczne, na pietrze jest pomieszczenie monitoringu z krzesłem i monitorem, na dole kasa z biurkiem z szufladą i komputerem. Na dachu budynku mamy jeszcze kamerę i antenę. Ot i wszystko, gdyby ktoś kiedyś wpadł na pomysł zorganizowania zawodów w budowaniu tego budynku na czas, zwycięzca miałby zapewne czas liczony w sekundach.
Jeśli chodzi o samochód do przewozu pieniędzy, to jest to równie prosta do bólu konstrukcja, podwozie jest tu jednoelementowe (z dołożoną trzecią osią), nie pokuszono się tu nawet o światła, które są po prostu nadrukowane na masce pojazdu, jest to element charakterystyczny dla pojazdów wydanych w tym roku. Z tyłu świateł w ogóle brak, zaś na pace mieszczą się dwie kasety na pieniądze i to tyle z funkcjonalności.
Jako ciekawostkę przedstawię fakt, że woreczki na klocki miały nadruk przedstawiający co zbudujemy z ich zawartości, jeden zawierał klocki potrzebne do budowy budynku, drugi do samochodu. Pudło, choć nie jest duże zawiera solidną szufladę z grubszego kartonu, rzecz dziś już nie spotykaną. Tak, były czasy, gdy najciekawszą i najsolidniejszą częścią zestawu było jego opakowanie :).

Today, we have a set from the "dark" days of Lego when the Town series was overly simplified. As a result, these sets were not very interesting in terms of construction and sometimes even ugly. The featured Bank from 1997, despite consisting of a two-story building and a fairly large car, is composed of a mere 91 pieces and includes two minifigures. The dominant colors here are gray and black, with a green 8x16 baseplate.
The building is a simple construction with little building involved. The side walls are just large 1x6x5 bricks, finished with slope bricks at the top. The front wall is fully glazed and consists of... 4 elements (doors and a window on the ground floor, and two windows on the upper floor). The printed money window panes are unique to this set. Next to the building, there is an ATM and some growing flowers. The interior is rather austere, with a surveillance room on the upper floor equipped with a chair and monitor, and a cash desk with a drawer and computer on the ground floor. On the roof of the building, there is a camera and an antenna. And that's it. If someone ever came up with the idea of organizing a speed-building competition for this building, the winner would probably have a time measured in seconds.
As for the money transport car, it is equally painfully simple in construction. The chassis consists of a single element (with an added third axle), and there are no lights, only printed headlights on the vehicle's hood, which is a characteristic feature of sets released that year. There are no taillights at the back, and on the bed, there are two money cassettes, and that's all in terms of functionality.
As an interesting fact, I'll mention that the brick bags had prints depicting what we would build with their contents. One bag contained the bricks needed to build the building, while the other contained those for the car. The box, although not large, had a sturdy cardboard drawer, a feature that is no longer seen today. Yes, there was a time when the most interesting and solid part of a set was its packaging :).
